Appreciate Your Dental Office Staff: It’s Worth It

It’s kind of no secret that there have been staffing shortages all over the US for dental office positions!

Whether or not you have filled that position, want to show appreciation for your staff, or need to increase morale, I have a simple but effective tradition that you can implement!

Set up a small/medium cork or whiteboard in the staff break room. Next to it, leave a stack of stickie notes and a pen or two.

Throughout the month, encourage staff members to write thank you notes to each other.

For example, if a coworker went out of their way to help you, another coworker, or a patient. Write to whom it’s to and from (not anonymous) and stick it to the board.

At each monthly staff meeting, collect all of the notes, fold them up, and randomly draw one. To whomever the note was written, you can choose from a selection of gift cards. ($25 minimum to restaurants, movie theaters, spas, salons, retail shops, etc. )

One act of kindness always sparks another! And even just reading thank you notes always makes staff members feel appreciated, whether or not they win the gift card.

Thanking your employees for their hard work is a great way to show your appreciation and boost morale.

When employees feel valued, they are more likely to go the extra mile and provide excellent customer service. This can lead to increased patient satisfaction and loyalty.

A positive and supportive work environment can also help to improve communication and teamwork among staff members. This can lead to greater efficiency and effectiveness in daily operations.

In addition, thank-you notes can help you recruit top talent. In today’s competitive job market, potential employees are looking for workplaces that value their work and make them feel appreciated. When you show your employees that you care about them, you make your practice more attractive to top talent.

So, don’t underestimate the power of a simple thank-you note. It’s a small gesture that can have a big impact on your employees, your patients, and your practice.

"Our scheduling system is not efficient, and it's causing problems with patient flow."
